The Aransas Channel is also know to locals as the Shrimp Channel or the Shrimp Boat Channel because it was the main path for the massive gulf shrimp boat fleet that called Conn Brown Harbor in Aransas Pass home. Because of hurricane damage to the infrastructure, increased regulation, and a drop in production, most of the fleet has moved away. In addition to being a prime navigation feature of the Redfish Bay complex, fishing along various grassy shores and cuts off of the channel produce trout, redfish, flounder, drum and just about anything else the area has to offer.
