A long shallow reef at the north end of Mesquite Bay, Ayers Reef is a popular stop for local anglers and guides. Surrounded by a hard sandy bottom, the reef creates a natural gathering spot for speckled trout, redfish and black drum. Fish the sandy flats around it and along the reef edge. Pay particular attention to the cuts that run through the reef.
