Part of the deep remnants of the now silted in Corpus Christi Pass, Kates hole is a deep part of the flats behind the southern tip of Mustang Island. The hole is a popular wading spot from shore and with kayaks launched from Mustang Island. The hole is also accessible from the Intracoastal by boat, but the cut is silted in and only shallow running boats captained by individuals with knowledge of the entrance should attempt it. Black drum, trout, redfish and flounder are all options in Kate's Hole, making it productive throughout the year.
